    Despite its questionable band name and possible Christian overtones, Funeral Age’s disc Fistful of Christ started off interesting and, as I listen now, continues in that vein.

    Funeral Age is a mix of death and thrash metal—comparable to old Kreator, Vader, Angel Corpse, and vocally, a lot like Osmium. It has some blasting, lots of layered guitar parts, and… *shudders* really bad production.

    This isn’t the kind of production where it’s hard to hear the music. This type simply sounds flat. The drums, for example, sound like Scorch’s album Faces—at least in some parts, which leads me to the disturbing conclusion that Funeral Age wanted them to sound like ass? Man, I hope not.

    Other than that, there isn’t much I can say about this band. It’s average, period (hence its rating). No songs stick out as particularly good, although none were bad, either. It’s not a must buy, but if you need a metal fix, check out Fistful of Christ.
