Lugubrious's Review:
When a creature is abandoned by his or her god, whether it be in the physical or metaphysical form, they are forced to fend for themselves. Leave a child out in the wilderness, and they will either die instantly or learn to take control of the world around them. This is what Exhausted Prayer has done. Musically, they have no god, just a bucketful of influences that inspire them to do something all their own. With a dual vocal attack they are one part black metal, another death metal. One second they are roaming the woods for prey, howling at the moon. Turn your head and the next second the beast becomes a two-headed monster with a chainsaw. This creates a certain amount of tension, for you never know how you will be attacked. The element of surprise brings alive the enemies' best friend: fear. One moment you will be swept away in an aesthetically pleasing melody, and the next you will feel your face being ripped apart.
Somehow in the chaotic metal world multiple bands have discovered the path to creativity is mixing the extensive amount of influences that exist. Exhausted Prayer is just one of the few who have taken this path. Where it will lead them, well, in my semi-professional opinion I can only hope it goes far and in the end they will find themselves in metal heaven.
