Zilla's Review:
Enertia is no stranger to the metal scene, having released three excellent, self-financed CD's: Law of Three (1996), Momentum (1997) and Flashpoint (1999). They've also appeared on numerous compilations and tribute albums, 11 in all if I remember correctly, including a few infamous Dwell Record Tributes. So where the hell has Enertia been since their last effort Flashpoint, almost 4 years ago now?
Well, it appears that they've been working on getting to the next level having hired producing legend Neil Kernon to forge their new CD. Anyone who's paid any sort of attention in the past 20 years or so should have an idea of the caliber of artist Kernon has worked with and what kind of quality he produces. Add to the equation the numerous industry contacts Mr. Kernon has and you've got yourself a potentially very powerful and effective weapon.
I'm happy to say that the magic works quite well here and will hopefully lead to a wide distribution release for Enertia. These three songs are all top-notch, catchy, melodic and heavy. As expected, the sound is quite crisp and everything can be heard clearly. Opening track "Time To Go" will have you singing along and head banging right away. "Messed Up Son" then comes in and makes your head go once again, whether you want to or not. Seriously, try and stop your head during the middle break... I dare you. I can feel the urge to rip a mean air-guitar right along with Roman's rhythms too. Wrapping it all up, "Anything" starts off with this really cool, not overly complicated instrumental section that leads right into balls and chunk and more head banging. Gotta fucking love that!
Vocalist Scott Featherstone is so awesome on this demo that I found myself forgetting more and more that I used to lump Enertia in with Flotsam and Jetsam, mainly due to Scott's voice having touches of Erik AK. Scott's voice is much more "his own" on this latest demo and it fits the music so well. This is American heavy metal done as good as it can be done. I'd throw these guys out on tour with Testament, Agent Steel or Nevermore any day and they'd hold their own well, no doubts.
Enertia deserves big distribution for the next full-length CD for sure. Four years of growth, a top notch producer and a finished product... what the hell are the labels waiting for?
