Metal Militia's Review:
This demo did confuse me a little, as the songs on here are from two different recordings, one being the "Sound of Dejecta" demo, and a live set recorded for WFBE radio. So I did some research and it turns out Dejecta isn't a new band at all. Shortly after Repulsion broke up Matt Olivo and Aaron Freeman formed Dejecta. The band was shortlived and ended after about six months, and released just one demo tape in 1993. Well apparently they are back, minus Aaron Freeman.Featuring Matt Olivo, Dejecta offer 8 tracks of raw death metal. While not as abrasive or gruesome as Repulsion, Dejecta is plenty good. Raw, thrashy riffs, screeching vocals, and good old fashioned offensive lyrics make for some quality death metal.
The first three tracks are studio recorded, and are average death metal fare. The opener, "Shit for Brains" is my favorite, starting off with some nifty bass work and catchy riffs. This is as good as it gets for Dejecta. The final five tracks are live tracks recorded for WFBE radio, and they sound pretty good as well, the highlight being their cover of Celtic Frost's "Visions of Mortality." If you like Repulsion, you'll like this. Old school and raw, this is death metal as it should be.
