This 12-song, well-produced punkabilly demo was brought to our attention by long-time boardie and friend to MetalJudgment, Gortex, who is the above-mentioned dreaded Rear Admiral Funsucker (who has since left the band). Despite his almost constant downplaying of both himself and the band in general, this is a great album. It isn’t metal, as he warned us, but it does have the raucous, aggressive spirit all metalheads (except those faggy goth fans) look for in their music. These guys obviously have talent and a good sense of humor, and the fact that they don’t seem to take themselves too seriously lends an air of fun (a dark, twisted fun) to the album. A song like the slower “Squirm” would have been perfect on the soundtrack to Rob Zombie’s House of 1,000 Corpses, with lyrics Oh honey, the things I could do to you / Oh honey, you don’t want me to / Oh darlin’, if you only knew / I’d squirm and twitch and roll all over you. Makes me think this song is comes from the point of view of an over-affectionate maggot. The singer’s Elvis-on-meth vocals are a great complement to the fast-paced music and background yelps and screams, and the band sounds much fuller than just three members strong. In short, I was very pleasantly surprised by this demo. It’s classic punk meets 50’s rock and roll with tongue in cheek, in a professional-looking package. A nice job by these guys. One skull off for not being ‘metal enough.’
