Metal Militia's Review:
Well, this is interesting. According to Deadwait's web site, Deadwait is the most intelligent and brutal band since Hatebreed. Now Jamey Jasta may be a lot of things, but an intelligent lyrical force definitely isn't one of them, and for this band to credit themselves as being as lyrically intelligent as Hatebreed basically means their lyrics are pretty fucking dense. I don't know where they come off comparing themselves to Hatebreed, I doubt those Connecticut hardcore jockarios ever came up with some of these lyrical gems: "Life is nothing more than time between conception and death"; "Without evil there is no good and vice versa." Amazing. Evil can't exist without good? AND VICE VERSA!?!?!? OMG! This changes EVERYTHING!!! I'm glad the philosophical genius of Deadwait is here to enlighten us all on the origins and causes of evil. Fucking Retards.Of course I don't want to be too harsh, maybe their music makes up for their shitty lyrics. I mean Deadwait boasts "one of the fastest growing street teams in Connecticut street team history" and we all know that the number of apes slinging out free demos and bio sheets is directly related to how awesome the band is. But alas, I am disappointed once again. These guys sound like Slipknot with throatier vocals and more repetitive song structures. Basically it's a weak metal influence meets a weak hardcore influence. The best thing about this band is that the vocals are indecipherable so we aren't immediately exposed to the moronic lyrical clichés of each song.
The bottom line - don't ever claim to be the most intelligent band since Hatebreed, don't ever pawn off shitty mallcore riffs as brutal, and don't brag about how many street team members you've got, because none of that shit is impressive and it just exposes you as the fucking poseurs you are.
