Musashi's Review:
DÆMOS is a totally professional band. From the presskit to the CD to the website, everything is top-notch. I really like it when I get a demo that is this good all around. Of course, it makes my job more difficult because I am not one that can dish out a lot of praise.Dæmos sounds a little like Testament and a little like Nevermore. They have a little Nu mixed with the old. The guitars are good and heavy. The drums are good most of the time. The riffs are chunky and the songs are generally well written. I find the vocals annoying, but I think the guitars make up for it.
I would love to rattle off some of my pet peeves about the demo, but I think that would just sound nit-picky at this point. Of course, why should that stop me? I think they need a new vocalist. There, I said it. Notwithstanding, I think that these guys worked real hard to put together a great CD. They also put together a great website: very informative and cool.
The problem with a band like this is that they might not find a good home in the music business. They seem to be doing very well being independent. I doubt that some of the smaller metal labels could do any more for them. That is a major accomplishment. Of course, it is hard to be entirely independent and it takes a lot of time and effort away from making music. Having outgrown the independent labels, the next step up might be a major label or one of their subsidiaries. I have to wonder whether a large label can really do anything with metal, even commercial metal like Dæmos. What a conundrum!
I like the fact that Dæmos is out there selling their own CDs and playing with top metal acts. I hope that metal success comes their way.
