  • Dguy's Review:
I can't really think of anything fresh to say about this band. If you're a frequent MJ reader, you know that I already reviewed their first demo Internally Reviled, and rather enjoyed its fresh take on both technical death metal and thrash. This demo was recorded live from a radio show that the band performed on, and contains two tracks from Reviled and four tracks that I assume are new to this demo. Pretty much everything I said about them in my first review still applies. Interesting vocals, accurate drum work, fantastic jazzy Dimebagesque shred solos (especially on the four tracks new to this demo, "Rite of Initiation," Snakestrike," "Charred Earth," and "Caught Beneath Conscience"), et cetera. And once again, my only real complaint with this demo is the mix. Except whereas Reviled had way loud vocals and not enough of everything else, it's the reverse with Live. The vocals are very quiet, and the instruments are at an average level. I'll be forced to assume that it's because this was recorded from a radio show, or that the person working the soundboard doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Or both! Regardless, this is still a better than average demo, from a better than average band. I wish them much continued success.

Also, I would like to dedicate this review, and all future reviews that I do for Metal Judgment, to the memory of Tomas Forsberg, also known as Quorthon, mastermind behind the first and greatest black/viking metal band ever, Bathory. May you ride with the Valkyries eternally, and thrash BEYOND fucking death!
