  • Sabbath's Review:
Well, here I am with yet another Calm Site demo. I was surprisingly pleased with their previous demo, Deadweight, which I received not too long ago. And now I have Steelpit!! I spoke recently with Calm Site, and they informed me that they have signed to a US label, and will be releasing their debut shortly. This was information I was extremely excited about, considering how much I liked Deadweight and the band.

Steelpit is a very different experience than Deadweight was for me. They seemed to have slightly shifted gears, and have merged a fast, upbeat song structure with slower, deeper vocals. The first band that came to mind the minute I heard the first track on Steelpit was Gorefest (the False days). Calm Site's vocals have striking similarities to early 90's Death Metal, which is most definitely a plus. All three tracks on this demo are very catchy - with a brutal, yet cheerful sound - making it my favorite demo of the year so far.

I am awfully delighted to see Calm Site move ahead in the Metal community as the next premier band to emerge from lake-surrounded Finland. I wish them all the luck in their endeavors, and I look forward to snagging their debut full-length when it comes out.
