Extremely harmonious with an indigenous sound that has come to be expected from Finland, Calm Site delivers an actual-attention grabber demo-with Deadweight. I was impressed after their first track, "Payment in Full," was finished, and I was definitely shocked that I liked this demo so quickly.Calm Site have a sound comparable to the catchiness of most Swedish/Finnish Death Metal bands out their, but can most closely be compared to Hypocrisy, Nomicon, and Children of Bodom. They can take a slow approach at times, but every riff is packed strongly with emotion, which allows this demo to create tremendous potential for this band. They present laid back rhythms underneath incredible vocals that are raspy and death-like.
Deadweight is the third self-released demo from this prospective band, and with the pleasure I received from it, I wish this band very much luck for their future endeavors in Metal. With Deadweight in mind, I must say I am disappointed that this band is not signed. Keep your eyes peeled for Calm Site. I anticipate these Finns to make a breakthrough debut shortly in the Extreme Metal community. With the simple style Calm Site has created, they have morphed that simplicity into something truly enjoyable on Deadweight, even if this talent is "just" a demo. This band carries the home-grown Finnish torch with their inspiring sound, so let's hope to see something full-length from this band real soon.
