Kefka X's Review:
If a group of musicians were asked to write and record the driest, wee-wee-less heavy metal ever imaginable, they must have released a three-song demo under the name Ancara, because that's exactly what this one is. In fact, Ancara's three-song demo of songs with structure and no substance is about as flavorless and outdated as a modern day rendition of Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" (although I do kind of like that song...or maybe it's just the fact I've been watching the Rocky films religiously over the past few weeks...damned AMC channel.) Take this gym-training background mush metal and give it the accessibility of His Infernal Majesty (minus the stomach-turning romantic undertones) and Nickelback, and you've got some heavy metal that woulda-been-cool in the 80's, not-even-cool in the 00's. The most surprising part is that this quintet of dullards comes from Finland, a country in Europe, a continent rich with evolved, exciting and uprising metal of all genres and sizes. Oh forget it. I need a back massage. In the words of Michael Palin, "It's dull. Dull, dull, dull, dull, dull."
