Metal Militia's Review:
Ah France, the land of wine and cheese, and not surprisingly the second worst place on the face of the Earth. After New Jersey. Well unfortunately 7th Nemesis is from France, but the worst part is, they are damn good. I'm not sure if this is technically a demo, because it looks and sounds very professional. I think this more of a promo for their soon to be released album, and if the album sounds anything like the 3 tracks featured here, then 7th Nemesis should enjoy success without trouble. What we have here is some quality brutal death metal. Unrelenting blasts, frenetic death riffage, weird fuzzed out guttural vocals, and very nice production. For three tracks 7th Nemesis brutalizes with the same basic sound. Nothing wrong with that here, seeing as the demo is only three tracks long the sound stays fresh even though the variety is somewhat lacking.
The first track, "7th Barrier," is the best track on the promo. It opens with a nice drum section, some ultra fuzzy guitar work, and then doubles in tempo and the killer vocals come in. I really dig these vocals. I'm not sure if the singer is putting some distortion on his voice or his French roots have just fucked up his vocal chords, in any case the vocals are awesome.
The guitar work is steady throughout, and the other two songs on the demo are competent but not superb like the opener. The other two tracks are little better than generic death metal, but I don't think they would sound nearly as good on a full length album. I am anxious to see how the rest of 7th Nemesis' songs work out. If they can continue in more of the same vein as "7th Barrier" then they will definitely have something special on their hands.
