I got stuck in traffic, so I missed Soulfly. The second band was Monster Magnet and they represent everything that is wrong with metal today. While they were playing, my buddy and I went to get a beer, and low and behold, we ran into the head of security, who after some pestering, gave us VIP passes and let us into the pit section. This ruled! I've seen Maiden on every tour in the '90's and this was by far the best. Being front row at Maiden.....to make a long story short, the people in the pit were pretty much pussies and wouldnt pit, but my brother and I changed that very quickly. Everyone started getting into it, especially when they played "Phantom of the Opera." Best show ever, hands down.

Thankfully Iron Maiden hasn't changed much since I first saw them about 15 years ago. They still rock. Having added another guitarist it was hard to distinguish the parts. But it's not always about how it sounds, it's about how much energy you can transfer from the stage to the audience. Maiden playing all their greatest hits is a wonderful experience. As much as I hate the idea of old bands regrouping and doing greatest hits tours, I love seeing Maiden up on stage running around battling Eddie. A must see!

What a fucking show! Not only are Maiden back, but they kick ass! Bruce has short spiky hair, unlike the rest of the band, that look frozen in time, the same as they have looked since I started listening to them in the 80s. Bruce leaps and jumps around the stage with so much vivacity, never standing still for more that 30 seconds. 3 guitarists and a bass player made 6 people on stage and the energy between the crowd and the band was intense. I felt like I was in high school again, but with better seats and glasses. The beginning of the show brought me back to the 90s, though, with a giant video screen showing an Ed Hunter video game simulation equipped with blood guts and gore. Loved it! But with the massive and colorful set, changing backdrop, giant moving Eddies, fire, fireworks, lights galore, I couldn't take my eyes away for more than 2 seconds without missing something. Maiden played a couple of hours worth old faves and some newer songs with so much metal god-like confidence I was in awe and screamed like a school girl whenever any band member would glance vaguely in my direction. I felt like a groupie! Highlights: Powerslave (Bruce wore some ancient Greek/Roman mask), and Number of the Beast (of course).
