After seeing In Flames for the first time at Milwaukee Metalfest and being blown away, I was psyched to see them again in a much more intimate setting.I had never heard Moonspell before and they were an interesting opening band. They all dressed the same way and because they are Brazilian or Latin or South American (I don't remember which), they had a huge following. In Flames again knocked me out but it didn't seem right for such a cool-ass band to be playing such a shitty little venue in Brooklyn. Their last album is amazing and it was a pleasure to see them again regardless. Too bad I had to leave early to catch a flight the next morning. It was worth it and I highly recommend you catch them next time they hit your town.

I was treated to one of those proverbial shows "that you will never forget." I was already in good spirits due to this show being the second night of the Maryland Metalfest, which included other bands like Pessimist, Bloodstorm, Deceased, Twisted Tower Dire, Dillinger Escape Plan, and tons more. But on to the actual Moonspell/In Flames review. Moonspell, I feel, is a bit overrated. They are not goth, they aren't really all that metal, so I wasn't that impressed at all. I thought maybe they might sound better live than on CD. I was mistaken. So after that downer, I plopped myself up front and awaited the Swedes. The Star Wars theme opened and I was in awe. In Flames were in prime form on this night. The show was a non-stop adrenaline rush from that point on. The best shows are those where you can tell the band is having as much fun as you are. That's what happened, they were having a blast on stage and the crowd gave it all back. I've never seen Phantasmagoria that packed before, and you couldn't move, it was so tight up there. The crowd was this force of energy the whole time.
A nice little touch was the mid-set birthday cake gift to the drummer and some other girl, which made for a good picture! After firing confetti on the crowd, the band played on, and they didn't want to stop! By the last song, "Episode 666," it was apparent that this show was something else! The band truly appreciated the American tour to the fullest and were touched by the crowd's enthusiasm. I was too!
Ahhhh, A killer show from a killer band, what more do you need!
