    Welcome to the bastard album known as Slow, Deep and Hard by Type O Negative. In all reality, this should have been done by Type O Carnivore, or maybe Carnivore O Negative, for it seems to be a clash of both styles. Within this insane asylum of an album is the speed and hatred of the classic meat lovers. In between the mad rants exists a machine like void, cold as ice and downright creepy. How these two elements can co-exist is beyond me, but it somehow works on this album. A quick mental diagnosis, all members on this album are bi-polar.

    Few times have I sat down to listen to an album and seriously worried about the singer's mental health. It is safe to say (looks around) that ol' Pete was on the verge of a breakdown while creating this album. With songs about his other personality and his desire to kill, to tracks about the joys of suicide, he seriously sounds like a deranged madman that has escaped from the loony bin. It is my theory that the Pete we know now is the morose character he is because of too much shock therapy. Hopefully I am not awakening a sleeping giant. Screams about killing you tonight echoed with mad laughter further prove this.

    The creativity on this album is mind numbing. With chants of murder, mad fits of laughter, and the sound of a machine killing a girl, this is not an album you want to go to sleep to. If you did your dreams will be long and frightful, beginning with the memory of the girl that broke your heart and her body lying dead in a ditch. Before you awoke you would feel the joy of having the strength to take your own life. Scary isn't it? It is sad we will never have an album like this again, but maybe it is for the better. After all, we wouldn't want our beloved Peter Steele locked up in a loony bin instead of making albums and touring right?
