Black Metal to Goth Rock... can it happen and you still have that feeling of respect for the band? The answer is yes. Tiamat were one of the first acts I heard that made a total transition from blast beat to love songs for the suicidal. Wildhoney is Tiamat's fifth album and probably (since I'm not a deity and know all) most sought after album in their catalog, released in 1994 by the 'then cool' label Century Media. Sweden's Tiamat opened the gates for Pink Floyd fans to hang out with Darkthrone fans (at least the ones who know what music is, and don't hold a grudge against you for not wearing all black and boots).

Wildhoney opens up with the sound of crickets and insects, setting the mood for a wild trip through the Necronomicon. The album although morbid lyrically, lightens up after every track with more mellow guitar melodies and Johan Endlund saving his voice with a more whispery vocal style. Everything about this album makes it a classic, from the pounding drums on "Gaia" to the classical guitar riffing on the track "Do You Dream of Me?" and of course Johan's soothing voice on "A Pocket Sized Sun."

I bet all of you want to have more reasons to why I chose this album for my classic review, am I right? Go spend some money on something unique, something with substance, and above all something that can actually change your mood from song to song.
