    Ludichrist were one of those bands that came and went in a blink of an eye, later to take form in the shape of Scatterbrain, a more diverse and silly outfit that saw enough success to land a couple of videos on MTV's Headbangers Ball. Ludichrist however, were five dudes that probably lived on Jolt Cola, cheap beer and took their cue musically from speedsters D.R.I. Tommy Christ would entertain many with his satirical lyrics that took a humorous stab at everything from a shitty party to a boy named Zad.

    Let it be known that Ludichrist were sonically both hardcore and metal. Too hardcore for the metal purist, and too metal for the hardcore purist. They borrowed their speed from the land of hardcore and their technicality from the land of metal. Their cover of "The Barber of Seville" peaks the shredding meter and shows their appreciation for all music, as well as their blatant goofy band image. Tommy Christ is a legend in his own right, with his story-telling vocal style that was known to take multiple characters in the course of one song. Glenn Cummings and Paul Neider would show their tremendous guitar skills as well and the three would later form Scatterbrain.

    The difference between the two bands would unquestionably be speed, with Ludichrist playing at the speed of light, adding only the occasional mid-paced groove for good measure. The whole album is a burst of energy as well as a damn good time, providing many laughs along the way. The musicianship is astonishing, with all these dudes shredding their asses off as if their lives depended on it. If you take old D.R.I. and add metal but don't slow it down, and have it played by dudes that could probably do anything, you have Ludichrist. Doesn't come with case of Red Bull, but it'd probably enhance your experience. And better yet, add Jager.
