Recording four albums before being incarcerated for murdering the man who founded Deathlike Silence Productions, Varg Vikernes has set one of the biggest footprints in the world that is metal. We've all read the magazine articles and other "publications" about the rise of violence in the Norwegian Black Metal scene during 1991-1993, so I will get straight to the review of this groundbreaking album and not talk about a bunch of rumors and gossip.Quick run down of this album:
- Heavy Bathory influence
- Vocals sound like Varg is getting raped in prison
- Doubles drum tracks on parts of songs
- Samoth of Zyklon/Emperor fame played bass on Aske EP
- "Stemmen Fra Taarnet" gets cut off half way through a riff
- Laughs and says wow! at the beginning of "War"
What a review, eh? I guess you'll just have to go out and buy the album to get the key and unlock the mystery, which is Golgotha's Classic review of Burzum's first release. If you don't own this album already, I ask of you to kill yourself for the bettering of this world. Thank you and have a wonderful journey.
