Kefka X's Review:
Oh god, what a horrible, horribly delicious mess. Released by Loco Studios as the band's first full-length, Bolt Thrower's In Battle There Is No Law is a bizarre chapter in the band's two-decade (well, ALMOST two-decade) career. A bit Kreator, a bit Carcass, a bit Napalm Death, the band's induction into the extreme music scene in the late 80's was one of the lesser-known, but powerful slops of filth to sit alongside Pleasure to Kill, Reek of Putrefaction and Scum, respectively. IBTINL is thinly-produced, poorly-executed death metal garbage played as fast as an excited prepubescent teen given his first Playboy magazine. But it's SOOOOO good. Fans of the band's more mid-paced recordings, such as Honour Valour Pride and Mercenary, may be a bit surprised to hear their favorite group playing grindy-death through a tin can.So anyways, expect all of the above, kick back and enjoy. Just remember...almost all of your favorite bands sounded this shitty back in this era of time.
