reVolting Room is a big change and improvement over Skinlab's previous work Disembody: The New Flesh the album which I got back in 2000, I've been somewhat of a fan of this band, I remember it took me a few listens to get into 'em and the album wasnt really bad at all although it had a slight wannabe sound to it with the likes of Machine Head/Sepultura type stuff-- it still wasn't a bad record to listen to. But now things have changed, Skinlab are really in a zone of their own, not really trying to experiment with stuff but are coming up with interesting things-- I think this is the case maybe with the help from the new guitarist dude Glenny. The riffs are Sabbathy as fuck, guitar sound is very cool and drums are fantastic I can see they've taken great care producing. My fav songs are "Purify" I like it because its really visionary and has awesome progression, and "Never Give In" sweet intro and chorus just fucking rules. Steev is a kick ass vocalist if you listened to this CD I think you would agree. Overall I like all the songs on the album and recomend it to anyone who wants to hear some kick ass modern metal.

First off I must say I a am ...errr... was a big Skinlab fan. From the very first time I spun "Bound, Gagged and Blindfolded" I was floored. I caught them live in upstate New York and that West coast Bay area metal was alive and kickin. Already a fan of Exodus (RIP Paul) and Testament (get well Chuck)the torch was handed to the lab and bang!... a looong wait and a few lineup changes and after many spins-- what the fuck... There are a few nice cuts but most of the disc is crap. What was the final jab was the bullshit tape recordings that ended the disc. And let's not forget the new logo-- yuck! Come on boys, make your own vibes and not copy every other bullshit (nu metal) disc that's being thrown at us! Bring back Skinlab not Machinelab !

I gave this CD a chance even though I was not a Skinlab fan before. And I am still not a Skinlab fan. The sound is ok, but the songs are generic and have no hook. I just don't see the groove that most of the judgment crew is hearing. Mostly I think it is RETARDED that this band got mostly better reviews than the latest Crown cd (Crowned in Terror) which is their best effort to date and blows Skinlab into another dimension. The judgment staff needs to re-evaluate their scores.
