Honestly, I hate this album. What happened to Manowar? Since I had their great album, Louder Than Hell, I thought Manowar can do the same after rest for many years. I only listen for one time and then lost my appettite to playback. Eric, Karl, Joey and Scott, wake up dudes!

I think it's about time that this site should post a Manowar fan review for Warriors of the World. I love every Manowar album out there but I am not one of those fans that love everything the band does just because they're Manowar. For example, Fighting the World is a great album as a whole, however "Blow Your Speakers" is the most disgusting, commercial, pop song ever written by any band that call themselves metal.Let me start by saying that Manowar brings to Metal most of the elements from the romantic periods in art. They praise their art just for the art, they praise all the romantic values like honour, pride, the strong one defending the oppressed, and so on. They believe in the nobility of dying for a cause. These are all Medieval values that the romantic artists used to glorify in their paintings and literature. They are so into the medieval values that they fight with broad swords and battle axes. They drink ale before battle and they ride to it on mighty horses. To some, this is ridiculous, to others it is naive, to me it's just the way Manowar are. And I like it. I think you just have to stay true to your essence and that Manowar did. Over the years Manowar has always granted us to plain, straight foward, well writen, well played Heavy fucking Metal.
That is what you will get if purchase WOTW. True, there are non metal songs ("Nesum Dorma," "American Trilogy"). Just skip'em. You have to skip one or two songs in every Manowar album, anyway. The rest of the album is great. You get everything we came to love from Manowar over the years. The Battle Anthems are there in "Call to Arms" and "Warriors of the World United." And do not give me that "Manowar try to make every song sound like an Anthem" crap. They are Anthems. The power ballads are nice too, especially "Valhalla" which is about dying in battle with a smile in your face because you just earned your ticket to Valhalla's Great Hall where you will spend eternity fighting side by side with Odin and the other Viking Gods. However the undisputed highlights of the album are the three aggressive, thrashy, fast in your face songs. They are "Hand of Doom," "House of Death" and "Fight Until We Die" are fast, aggressive. They alone make this album worth the bucks.
I do not have to mention the quality of the production and the playing abilities of the band. That is a given when we are talking about Manowar. However Eric's vocals deserve special mention. This album allowed him to show a bigger variety of singing styles and he does great at all of them, even whem he sings opera. Congratulations to Manowar on another great heavy metal album.

It's a Manowar release. Need we say any more? It's a bunch of dorks running around in their animal skin booty tights yelling something about their love for steel, or metal, or aluminum, or something. Hell I don't know. It's a bunch of close to 40 guys who are still bragging the fact that they are banging trailer trash who have hardly an inkling to how their music actually sounds. I tried to like these guys. I did, I really tried. But these guys are just a little too pouffant and cheesy for me. These guys are content to play the same 15 songs that people know all the words to. It's like they're stuck in a Tom Jones hell. These guys may have a considerable degree of talent, but it definitely ain't when they come together. If they are stuck on everyone being united and singing together, why don't they just join the peace corp or something. It's better than listening to this piece of garbage. It's typical Manowar music, sucking like only Manowar can. The only reason I'm giving this one skull, is because I don't know what will happen if I don't actually rate it. Other bands play, Manowar just blows.

I better get this out from the start: I am not a Manowar fan! And probably never will be too. One can say this based on the untouchable principle that Manowar will always be Manowar... and that this is one of the reasons fans of this band worship them beyond all cheesiness known to man (well maybe all except Rhapsody or Freedom Call ).Now on to the album: Six years have passed since the last one, lots of "we love our fans so we shall tour again!", "Hey, there must be two Manowar fans out there who didn't get to see us before!", but the point remains, that's way too much time in between albums, and with this come high expectations for what's to come... that don't measure up. What you get in the end are five "same lyrics in different places, done it before music" kind of songs and LOTS, LOTS of filler in the core. I mean, the opera song? Elvis? The never ending ballads? I'm soooo touched. And it must be getting really hard for Eric Adams to get the words Fire, Steel, Sword, Blood, Die, Power, etc... in the correct order for the songs, props go to him for not messin' things up live eheh!
Conclusion: 1 Skull for the album production, 1 Skull for the band's past and value to the metal world. But there are sooo many better albuns where to spend money out there...
