Don't let this album title fool you. There is NOTHING repetitious about this album. I can honestly say this is perhaps the most difficult album I've reviewed, but that's the beauty of it. This is truly an amazing album. At times I've been left speechless as I listened to it. So trying to find the right words to describe this was a task in and of itself. But that being said, let me try...This is definately a departure, or evolution rather, from thier previous album, which deserves its due respect. So all you fans of Chapter One: The Decent, you'll appreciate this album a lot. More metal than Chapter One, but a lot more intense... blast beats and whatnot. The guitar work is searing. My fingers hurt just thinking about playing like that. Vocals are amazing, lovely screams by Garren, and impressive backing vocals by Clayton (death metal-esque bellows). Maharahj expiriments a bit more, with a predominantly acoustic track, and some other instrumental tracks, which are very good, albeit unexpected on my part. This is truly a breathtaking album that I can't fully describe, but Clayton summed it up rather well: "Brutal fast metal."
All in all, I love this album. It's without a doubt one of the best albums I've heard this year. So fans of kick ass metal that are a bit on the expirimental side, grab this album. And all fans of Maharahj should pick it up as well, but if you're looking for more straight-foward hardcore/metal, pick up thier first album, to get a taste... then dive in to this. Bask in the glow of the Candian metal machine!!!

Why is it that everyone shits themselves for ripoff bands? Go back to the drawing board. There's nothing original here, just stolen ideas and lyrics. Get a clue.

This album has a lot of variety/diversity, whereas the last full length had a ton of layering that seemed like studio stuff. It was hollow all the same. This album thumps, but it fucking grinds away at you at the same time. The clean breaks are few and far between but make a huge impact on the dyanamics of the songs. It seems that the intent of this album was to make the songs as challenging as possible while still being relatively comfortable and welcoming. Like they are technical without smashing you over the head with tons of wackiness, or they are obviously very dark without being over the top death/gore. The song writing is definitely going the right direction and is solid, even in the instrumental passages of the album the whole songwriting seems suited to the overall album as much as the layout does. Make no mistake, these hardcore boys are headed the way of old metal men. That's the one problem, they just aren't playing like they are experienced in the ways of old metal men and thus lack that extra bit of intensity that would earn them the 5 skulls. Maybe next time.Favourite tracks: "The Dust Settles on Our Bones," "Cities & Script," "A Portrait of Plague and Decay," "Time & Death & God."
