Submitted by Chris Ayers (10/15/00):
Produced by Agnostic Front’s Roger Miret, Release The Cure is easily Indecision’s best album. Its sound approaches the neo-brutality of tempo-crazy tyrants Botch and Dillinger Escape Plan, though it does retain that old-school h/c vibe like Kiss It Goodbye and Himsa. “Higher Side Of Low” heaves shreddingly heavy guitars, and “May Be Monitored To Assure Quality Control” contains inventive drum fills and backing vocals by guitarist Rachel Rosen (?). But the band’s political message is loud and inescapable: the album’s title refers to the conspiracy theories that AIDS was created by the government for population control, and the cure is being withheld from the public until secret agendas are met. “Burning Saints” addresses America’s lack of perspective, and “Suspension Of Disbelief” tackles fear of authority. For all their seemingly sagacious food for thought, Indecision are still mere children who whine about the dangers of a 9-to-5 lifestyle because they can — but mainly because they don’t have one.
