Dear lord! I was finally able to track down a copy of this album at one of the local chain stores and I listened to it for most of the ridiculously long drive I had to pull over the weekend. I was amazed.

This is easily one of the best, most ambitious albums of the last year. Not only does this beat Dream Theater's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence second disk, it humiliates it. It punks it like a prison bitch and makes it toss their salad.

The music is intense and moody and the vocals are clean and full. The guitars are fantastic and change from full-on trudge-riffing to classical guitar and back again. This is an incredible, beautiful piece of work, and I can only hope that they can reproduce this album if they ever record again.

Having heard Green Carnation's first full length album, Journey to the End of the Night, about a year ago I anxiously awaited the sophmore effort from that extremely pleasing release. Though this CD is extraordinarily long it is quite wonderful all the way through. The break down about 32 minutes through makes it almost feel as if it is 2 songs, unless you have you eyes closed and ears open. The fluidity of the music with the vocals is beyond reproach. It is a must have for anyone who loves epic and emotional masterpieces. Give the band a chance and you will not be dissapointed. They are not In The Woods by any means, nor are they trying to be. They are Green Carnation. Long live the flowers of metal!
