Disconnected, one of the best new additions to the prog rock arena from some old pioneers. Fates Warning has always been one of my favorite bands, this masterpiece is in a class all by itself, comparable to the likes of YES and Dream Theater, it's different from anything these guys have done. It's very impressive and a great addition to their legendary discography.

FATES WARNING!!! I could feel my mind blowing high when they come again with a more interesting album. Disconnected is a sure list for any progressive fans, especially for die hard fans of Fates Warning. Zonder does real well this time, oh yes he always does!! Jim's instrumental is a very inspiring and challenging one. For the last, they are the finest progressive band ever. WE ALL ARE AT FATES HAND!!!!

Fates Warning are undeniably an acquired taste, much like Rush, Dream Theater, and any # of "prog" rock bands. But with Disconnected, I think Fates has become THE band that will carry metal into the next generation of music lovers' ears. Not only is their latest heavier than the previous Pleasant Shade of Grey, it's more accessible. While there are some looong songs that, at times, can get tedious to the untrained listener raised on 3 minute bubble gum pop and the distorted raging of Korn, et al, album opener "One" even inspired my N' Sync obsessed little sister to blurt out, "That Rocks!!" Disconnected is a must for any Fates fan, new or old. The songs still reflect the ever present doom that seems to permeate the Fates camp, and that ain't necessarily a bad thing, considering the greatest art comes in the form of sadness.
