Almighty DEICIDE have finally lost their edge. I have been a bigtime fan of DEICIDE since first hearing their debut back in 1991. However, it seems that they're finally showing their age. Insineratehymn was bad, In Torment... is worse. Lack of energy, no catchy riffs (like DEICIDE of old), and a tired attempt at staying evil. DEICIDE were once the gods of metal, now they need to retire.

Mixed feelings on this one. I've always been an avid fan of Deicide since day one, but it just seems like their novelty is wearing off. I've loved all their albums, even Insineratehymn, but this one just seems rushed. My pet peeve with In Torment In Hell is its fuzzy production. Benton's vocals, while vicious, don't jump out on this recording, and most of the songs seem to meander into a senseless jumble of noise. Still brutal and evil, but less effective and atmospheric as their prior releases. It's catchy once you spin it a couple of times, but pales in comparison to the Deicide we once knew.
