Although this album so weak CoB still managed to give this fan satisfaction. Follow the Reaper stands at the fourth place and on the CoB chart. This album can beat other CoB album like Something Wild, Hatebreeder and Warheart Live in Tokyo. The band members can't create memorable music as in past albums. I think Laiho should get more evil on the next album. Follow still has good songs like "Everytime I Die." Long Live CoB !!!!

This album is very, very good. In all honesty, COB's style hasn't changed much. But I like the way they confuse critics with their style. I have literally heard this band called every Metal subgenre there is! Black, Death, Thrash, Power, Progressive. Everything. Maybe that's where their success lies. They take all the good stuff from these genres and stuff into one band. Alexi Laiho is a great songwriter and guitarist, but he lacks a little bit in his lyrics. At times they approach a stupid, Six Feet Under style lyrical approach (not nearly as gory, but with the same intent). The lead work is very technical, and is used in various contexts. Alexi can weave his lead work in perfectly with the song as a whole, making for some great harmonies with rhythmic guitarist Alexander (reminding me very much of Jesper Stromblad of In Flames) or he can let loose with a shredding solo that hogs the spotlight entirely (ala Michael Amot's work in Arch Enemy, or even Yngwie Malmsteen). The bass is audible at times, and I like that a lot, as it lets the listener get wide range of listening from various tones. The one thing I wish the album did have though was a little more franticness, like the band had on the first two releases. To sum it all up, I love this album, I even listened to it for 10 days in a row (the whole thing), but I think I like Hatebreeder just a little bit better.

If you like all things Maiden, Dream Theatre, along with thrash, power and some black metal thrown in, you get the offspring off all these, Children of Bodom. When I first heard this album, it just floored me, freaking brilliant album. The Wildchild himself should be revered among guitarists as a god. The band as a whole is incredible but its Laiho's guitar work that evokes all things that I loved about late 80's-early 90's metal before its temporary demise. The production is excellent as well. One of Peter Tatgren's best work to date. The only gripe I have with is that there should have been more work done in terms giving more variety in the songs, giving each song more distinct character. Most of the melodies are in the same vein but then again that could be the point, eh? Grab the reaper's hand cause we're on a wild high speed ride through the 7 levels of hell. No pitstops. Care to join me??

Well, there can be too many things to say about this album, but as I presume, you all know COB so there's no point to talk about the awesome guitar or the cool voice. OK, so cutting the crap, I HATE COB's lyrics. Lahio can be a great axeman but I think he's a little obsessed about that fucking Lake Bodom and the murder. The artwork in the CDs sucks. The same reaper all over again with the same stupid expression and the stupid Lake Bodom behind. I believe they can play very good music, however, the complements of fine musicianship are not there. I would like to see a little progression for the next record and hopefuly better artwork with a more intelligent concept. I really don't mind if a band like Cannibal Corpse sings: "Suck a dead vagina," but when cool musicians like COB sing "Hate your fellow as yourself" or " no tomorrow," stupidity and pity is what comes to my mind. (But those fucking solos at the end of "Kissing the Shadows" left me completely breathless, yeah!)P.D: Some fine lyrics that I recommend are the ones of Anders Friden, of In Flames.
