In practically every Fear Factory review I've ever read, the band members tend to prattle on about their theory that mankind is evolving into machines. After hearing the latest Brujeria album, I'm sure any interview with Juan Brujo will inevitably contain speculation about humanity evolving into a giant burrito, as Brujeria's latest material is essentially Fear Factory a español. I'm fully aware that Brujeria contains members of Fear Factory; however I always thought Brujeria's strength was that they didn't sound like Fear Factory. After listening to this lame collection of leftover-Demanufacture riffs, I really wish the band had called it quits after their excellent Raza Odiada album.

Unlike their previous releases, the band can't be accused of trying to create memorable songs anymore, because quite frankly, this is one boring album. The album starts off well enough with the Pantera/Fear Factory influenced title track, and if that had been the only song like it, I really wouldn't have minded too much. But every song sounds like Fear Factory, and listening to this album only serves as a reminder as to why I don't like them. The song "Anti-Castro" has its moments, but having just listened to the album a few minutes ago, I have trouble recalling any of the other songs. It's that unmemorable.

Considering that Nick Barker and several members of Napalm Death are involved with this project, as well as the fact that it has been several years since the last Brujeria album, it is downright disappointing that this piece of Ozzfest-fodder bears the Brujeria name. I've heard that the next album will supposedly be "more violent," but then again, they're probably saying that about the next Limp Bizkut album as well. Consider this a tragic misfire from an otherwise excellent band.
