Annihilator's 7'th studio album was released on the 25'th of January 2000 on American soil and it's a dream come true! This is Jeff Waters' triumphant return to Metal with somewhat of a reunited lineup, complete with Randy Rampage on vocals (Alice In Hell) and Ray Hartmann on drums (Alice In Hell, Never Neverland.) The stage was now set for Criteria For A Black Widow, originally known as Sonic Homicide. Every track on Criteria is Blistering Thrash Metal from the opening "Bloodbath" to "Sonic Homicide." Probably my favorite tracks are "Punctured," "Schizos are Never Alone Part 3," "Loving The Sinner" and double dare "Double Dare" but they are all equally heavy and will leave any Annihilator fan or Metal fan in general amazed at the music they are hearing. I can't think of a Metal album with as many solos as I heard on Criteria for a Black Widow. The guitar playing is just totally amazing and anyone who has never heard Jeff Waters will be amazed while long time fans will easily be pleased. It's wonderful to once again see Annihilator at top form, I would almost dare to say this is the band's best album ever. There are many references in both the music and the lyrics to their first two albums, for example "Back To the Palace" is in a way part two of the song "The Fun Palace" from Never Neverland and during "Double Dare" you get a small guitar reference to the chilling opening riff from Alice In Hell. There are also two bonus tracks which came as a relief to me since America never gets any bonus tracks. "Welcome back, To The PALACE!!"
