    Abyss's Review:
Okay, I’m a fan right off the bat. When I first put this disc in my CD player and pressed play, I was floored by a wall of sound that dissolved my flesh and got my left testicle to drop (finally!) This album is pretty fucking heavy, but very musical at the same time.

What impresses me most about this record is that they’ve crafted songs that are often played at break-neck speeds, but somehow they haven’t sacrificed the quality of the riffs. After the introduction of a faster breed of Black and Death metal, many bands put out punishing music, but often the velocity carried the song and the riffs were less than memorable. This band succeeds in turning up the speed and keeping the riffs as enjoyable as a mid tempo mosh-thrash groove. This thing is just damn fun to listen to. Its brutality would probably put me in a violent mood, except for the fact that there’s so much going on within the songs that I never let my attention wander. From the blast beat perfection of opening track, “Primal” to the vocal insanity of “Rupture” this is as complete a metal album as can be. A feat made all the more impressive by the fact that the punishment this album lays upon your ears never seems to let up.

If I had to compare this band to another, I would have to say they remind me little of Zyklon (not to be confused with Zyklon-B, mind you), but these guys are really in a class of their own. Rarely have I heard something this uncompromising, professional, and brutal.

    Death's Review:
I first heard of Cadaver, Inc. because someone forwarded me a link to their website, a Blair Witch-inspired, pre-release "advertisement" for a professional murder scene cleanup and corpse removal outfit for hire. Funny. Funny enough, apparently, to cause enough of a stir somewhere that MTV2 chose to report on the uproar. Check out the Earache site to view the clip, if interested.

"We all know that if it kills it kills and, more often than not, Cadaver, Inc. fucking kills."
Cadaver, Inc. definitely have elements of modern black, but they grab my attention primarily for their old-school thrash/death feeling that comes through all throughout this killer album. Whether it is Hell Awaits-era Slayer on the ultimate headbanging (and my favorite) track, "Murderhead," or the Possessed meets Mercyful Fate meets Celtic Frost meets Venom power of the balance of the album, for me, the power of this band is in the slow shit, the doomy feelings, the classic speed-thrash feelings, the fact that this album comes across as so undeniably metal every time I listen to it.

Of course, some of the blackened vocals do wear thin, and there are enough blast beats contained herein to scare away the Megadeth and Metallica fans within the first ten seconds of the opener, "Primal." But anyone who is a fan of both, say, Deceased and Zyklon will definitely love this record. Sometimes Cadaver, Inc. is a bit loose for me, the way that old Venom sometimes was and Motorhead was before that. But listen to fucking "Killtech" and try not to smash everything in your god damn apartment. You can't. The shit's been pre-programmed to make you absolutely destroy everything whenever you hear it.

Sure, it's spastic, it's primal, it's really fucking extreme so as to verge on unlistenable at moments, and its production is amateurish, even if possibly intentionally so, but we all know that if it kills it kills and, more often than not, Cadaver, Inc. fucking kills (I'm yelling "Slaaaaaaayyyyeerrr!" every time I hear the sick melodic and double-bass shit in "Reptile Robots") OK, they might not kill, but they will clean up the body for a fee.

Favorite tracks : "Snapper Organs," "Reptile Robots"

I’m not exactly sure why, but at some point I decided that Cadaver Inc. was a death metal band. Perhaps it was the hubbub surrounding their website: murder-scene clean up would generally be included in that stereotype, if one were to exist. While there is certainly a death flavor and style to much of the album, there is an undeniably strong black streak prominent throughout.

"Composed and performed with spirit, humor, ability, and creativity, Discipline has something for everyone, at least for everyone obsessed with metal."
So, really, I find that I think of it mostly as both and them some; regardless of what label is picked to try to describe what it sounds like, Cadaver Inc. is just not something so easily pigeonholed. Rather than perform this exercise in futility, I prefer to absorb the experience and enjoy following the flowing river of shifting sound. Noticing that there are times when doom is the predominant influence, or jazz, or a number of other interesting things, I’m glad to declare myself free of such labels for the moment.

In the end, it hardly matters what you call it, Cadaver Inc. is good metal fun. Composed and performed with spirit, humor, ability, and creativity, Discipline has something for everyone, at least for everyone obsessed with metal. I find myself liking this album more with every listen, and I’m not ready to put it down yet and make that skull declaration. But make it I must, because my deadline is fast upon me, so I do so with reservations. I believe I may find myself bringing this up again when the yearly retrospective rolls around, but in the meantime I strongly urge all to give this one a go.
